PARISH 100TH ANNIVERSARY - MAY 4, 2003

A beautiful Spring day for such a beautiful and joyful event in the history of Immaculate Conception Parish.  Started off with Mass at 11:00am in the beautiful Upper Church.  The seating capacity of the church is 1,300 and the church was nearly full for this special celebration Mass.  This was followed by a social in the Social Hall (rear of Lower Church).  This was followed by a banquet at Williamson’s Restaurant in Horsham, Pa.  The cocktail hour was from 2:00pm to 3:00pm, with dinner following.  This was attended by 650 and a wonderful time was had by all the current and former parishioners that attended.  The theme for the day, “One Parish, One Faith, 100 Years”.

This was such a memorable milestone in the history of immaculate conception parish.  Yet, we have so few photos to share.  If you have any photos from the 100th Anniversary celebration, please share them with us here.  Contact Dennis at dmcg1956a@aol.com.comWe will scan and return the photos to you.

This beautiful tile was given to all who atttended the banquet as a souvenir from this special day.

CLASS OF 1956 REUNION - OCTOBER, 2006

The IC Class of 1956 reunion was a weekend event, held the last weekend of October (October 27-October 29) of 2006. It was a huge success. This class was one of, and may very well be, the largest graduating class from IC. On Friday, there was an informal get-together at the Glenside Pub on Easton Road, in Glenside. On Saturday, there was a more formal social with buffet, cocktails, music and dancing. On Sunday, they attended the 11:00am Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, with a social following the Mass. All attending had a great time and continue to get-together socially on a regular basis.  Congrats for a job well-done!

Many tanks to Genevieve Welsh Bottorff ('56) for sharing these photos with us.

REUNION 2008 - OCTOBER, 2008

The 2008 Reunion started off with Mass at 10:00am in the beautiful Upper Church, followed by a social in the Social Hall (rear of Lower Church) at 11:30am.  This was followed by a banquet at the Irish Center in Mt. Airy.  The cocktail hour was from 1:00pm to 2:30pm.  Dinner followed and entertainment by the Richie Moore Trio until 6:30pm.  Our guest speaker was the ever-popular Fr. Richard Rock, C.M., former curate and pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish.  An IC reunion tradition was started with this reunion, the awarding of the first-ever Special Friend of Immaculate Award.  The recipient of this award was Bill Magarity, posthumously.  Bill loved Immaculate and has done so much for the parish over the years.  He was truly deserving of this special honor and award.  Other highlights of this reunion was the Chinese Auction.  Suggested by Ann Claffey Baiada (IC-1961), she planned and organized this auction of 43 donated prizes.  Not only was this a huge fundraising success for IC, but it was just a fun addition to our reunion.  Another fundraiser was the DVD/VHS slideshow, “Immaculate Then and Now – 2008”, produced by Leona Joline (IC-1958) and which was available for sale.  The slideshow played continuously throughout the day and was a constant draw.  Another fundraiser for the parish was the sale of beautiful 2009 calendars with pictures of Immaculate Conception Church on it.  This beautiful calendar was produced by Kevin McArdle (IC-1955).  The Classes of 1957 and 1958, both, celebrated a “mini” 50th Anniversary with us that day.  Many from both classes attended and we were happy they shared this special milestone with us.  Along with the reconnecting with classmates and friends, there was a chance to “walk down memory lane” with the pictorial and poster board displays of IC and Germantown.  This was attended by 475 and a great time was had by all.

Many tanks to Genevieve Welsh Bottorff ('56) for sharing these photos with us.

The 2008 IC Reunion Committee

This reunion was very much a success and a total team effort. We all had our roles and working together, we pulled off a reunion that more than doubled the attendance of the 2006 reunion, offered so much more and resulted in net proceeds to our beloved former parish triple that of the 2006 reunion. A job well done!
